We hope you will join us to help us raise at least $6,000 to support Nialah Edari as she pursues her dream to attend Barnard College. Nialah was featured in RapRehab, last year for her powerful comments and questions to Radio One’s CEO, Alfred Liggins. Watch

We have made a commitment to assist Nialah get this money. Why? Well…she’s just a wonderful young lady. We are not related to Nialah by blood; but we are a part of the village. Our concern for this promising young lady is based on the fact that she’s intelligent, focused and has so much potential. She has also worked hard to get to where we she is and earn this academic opportunity. She has worked summer jobs and obtained some scholarship dollars to offset the cost of room and board, tuition and books. However, she must contribute something or face losing her funding. Trust us…Barnard College is not cheap. It’s an Ivy League institution that is going to prepare and position Nialah to meet her goals in life. She intends to major in political science and eventually lead a civil rights organization and focus on educational reform.

Born in Milwaukee, Nialah is the oldest of six girls. So let’s recap her accomplishments: she was the founder and president of her school’s Black Student Union; she was the co-captain of the mock trial team; and participated as a varsity cheerleader; she graduated in the top 10% of her high school class with a 3.9 GPA and earned Honor Roll status. Additional activities included being selected a Mogul in Training by Grammy award-winning artist Usher’s New Look Foundation and serving as the Midwestern Regional Youth Director for Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

We are asking you to please consider giving something. Check out the unique stuff we have to offer as thanks for your contribution. We also ask that you share this page and encourage the participation of others. We need at least $6,000. But we would LOVE to raise even more. We really believe in Nialah and want to put forth our best effort to support her as she transitions to becoming a successful college student. It really is that simple. Please join us in making a difference to empower this young person. Be a proud member of the village. To make your donation click here
