Music Brains:

Although you might be quite talented the truth is you have no understanding of music-business.
No plan, no budget equals no success.
Marketing & Promotion:
While social media is a great place to garner a nice buzz, most indie artists rarely have a digital story. Posting a video on You Tube, is useless without a team to work it. Hire a publicist or social media guru.
Music catalog:
While most have recorded numerous tracks and mixtapes for years, I constantly find that most recordings are sub-par. It’s better to record one monster than 75, non-memorable tracks. Write to be above the cloud and not in it. While you might be tired of a track… 99.9% of the audience has never heard a single beat. Patience.
Circle:
While your inner circle is often tight is it right? The music business is about learning and surrounding yourself with people you can learn from. Social media, conferences and consulting with experienced individuals is a good start. Widen your circle to new zip codes.
Money:
The old saying of “it takes money to make money” is quite appropriate for the music business. Stop fooling yourself, expecting favors without dollars is a hope not a plan. It’s much better to save dollars and execute all phases on every music release.
